Romance, Love Or Relationships:

In the context of love The reversed Three of Swords points to misunderstandings, sadness, and sorrow. A relationship may have just ended, or one that you were sure would come together has not done so. Allow yourself to feel any pain as a result, but don’t turn it into self-persecution. We all have more than one soul-mate on the planet. Remember that when one door closes in life – another always opens.

Card Meanings: Overcoming Grief/ Sorrow/ Sadness, Repressing Emotions, Getting Over The Worst, Confusion, Reconciliation, Compromise, Suppressing Memories, Sorrow, Sharing Problems, Releasing Pain, Optimism, Overcoming Depression, Loss, Recovering From Heartbreak, Forgiveness, Inability To Let Go Of Pain

Regardless of the way that the Three of Swords card is depicted, know that it is not all bad. Although there is an element of sorrow that is undeniable when this card appears, what lies on the other side of this sorrow can be enhanced understanding and joy. Allow yourself to fully experience any sorrow or pain that comes up now, so that you can move beyond it.

Tarot Card Meanings: Three of Swords; loss and absence, sorrow, mourning, separation and departure or removal. This card generally represents an ending in some form or another but is often seen as creating a blank canvas for renewal.  Much change is indicated by the card but it is not always interpreted as a negative one.  Traditional sources ascribe the card with the meaning of the beginning of a new journey, which may be relevant to the more modern interpretation, in many senses.  Reversed; generally seen to indicate confusion and disorder, often mental illness or anxiety.

Tarot Triumphs: So my perceptions of the Tarot have been greatly influenced by my encounters with these three Tarot masters. The first, Jo, showed me that Tarot works as a divination system. The second, Raz, taught me that imagination is not enough, and we should think about structure, number, and sequence in the pack, even if there are different ways of arguing the case. Lastly, Glyn revealed that these images can be gateways to the mysteries. These encounters have inevitably shaped my understanding of Tarot and how I shall write about it in this book.

Reversed Cards: Do you like change? Most people do not. In fact, most people will resist change with everything they have. They will stick with dead-end jobs and lifeless relationships just so they don’t have to deal with Death’s energy, change. All of this stems from one dominant emotion: fear. Fear of death is what keeps us in the shadow lands, which is ironic because death lives in the shadow lands. But why do people fight change so much? Because, for whatever reason, the excuses serve them. Every reason ‘why not’ serves a specific purpose, and even though it is sucking the life out of you, the payoff for not changing and living in fear seems to trump the unknown on the other side. If you have drawn this card in the shadow aspect, you need to take a good long look at all of the excuses you cling to that keep you from the life, relationship, or job you say you really want. All of this fear weakens you and keeps you small. But maybe that’s the way you like it? Just know this: Death isn’t afraid of the shadows. Which means there is nowhere to hide from the inevitable force of Death’s blow.
