Elements of the Psychic World: The most widely known medical intuitive diagnostician was Edgar Cayce (1877-1945). Cayce claimed to be able to read many aspects of a person’s health intuitively and his focus centred on the health of the energy body and the physical body. Reversed Cards: It is not surprising at all to find out that our card of spiritual mentorship is ruled by Venus, the planet of love. At the heart of all faith is love. Yet here in the retrograde aspect love is not something you are feeling. Maybe because when Venus is retrograde, her cohort’s energy tends to move to the forefront. They have not bought you the happiness, success, and joy you had been hoping for. Instead, they have brought with them more suffering and conflict. Lucky for you, Mars was nice enough to show you. Tarot Triumphs: The imagery I refer to in the descriptions that follow is that of the traditional Marseilles Tarot Triumphs. The main pack that I use here is the Grimaud deck (republished c. 1969), but I have referred widely to reproductions of other historic packs in my possession, especially the Conver deck of 1761, the Pierre Madénie from Dijon 1709, an eighteenth-century Italian Bologna pack, and the Golden Tarot version of the Visconti-Sforza fifteenth-century deck. I have also studied a multitude of digital images of historical Tarot packs, mostly sourced from the British Museum, including the so-called Charles VI pack in the Bibliothèque Nationale de France and the important 1650 Vieville set.2

Reversed Cards: During a retrograde cycle, planets go into a shadow phase. This is not the same as the shadow aspect of a card but is more an in-between phase. Here in the Four of Swords we see Jupiter coming out of his slumber and preparing for his newly awakened state. He has learned much during his retrograde vacation and is now preparing all his new information and knowledge so that he can leap forth once this shadow phase is complete. You may be feeling exactly the same way. Right now you are preparing and collecting all you have learned so you can hit the ground running once this in-between phase is over with.
