Well-Being, Physical Health Or Mental Health:

Ritual of any sort will be helpful to you health-wise. (this could even be something like reading a book for an hour every Saturday afternoon). Any health problems could be drawing your attention to a problem that is not in your body so much as in your life; for example, a bad back could indicate that you are ‘carrying too much’ metaphorically speaking. Take care of yourself.

Card Meanings: Caution, Prudence, Soul Searching, Introspection, Withdrawal, Vigilance, Spiritual Enlightenment, Inner Guidance, Self-Reflection, Contemplation, Inner Strength

The Hermit is an extremely spiritual card, and often has to do with institutions and large organizations – everything from a bank to the entire Christian Church. This card indicates spirituality even if you are an atheist. It’s in whatever sense the word ‘spirit’ makes sense to you, even if for you ‘spirit’ equates to ’emotion.’ You may be trying hard to figure out what the ‘truth’ is about someone (or some matter), don’t feel that you have to do it all on your own, ask for help if you need it to gain different perspectives, more information, etc.

Book Details
Elements of the Psychic World: Home announced his retirement as a medium soon after the experiments with Sir William Crookes concluded. Suffering from poor health he spent the rest of his life travelling and died of tuberculosis on 21 June 1886 in Auteuil, France. Home’s published works include an exposé of fraudulent mediumistic techniques, Light and Shadows of Spiritualism (1877), and two autobiographies – Incidents in my Life (1862) and Incidents in my Life – 2nd Series (1872).

Try our Love Horoscopes: Libra and Sagittarius

Complete Book of Tarot: Waite (1911): The effigy of a knight in the attitude of prayer, at full length upon his tomb. Divinatory Meanings: Vigilance, retreat, solitude, hermit’s repose, exile, tomb and coffin; (R) wise administration, circumspection, economy, avarice, precaution, testament.

Tarot Triumphs: It is possible, however, to single out a card or two for special treatment if it has been eluding or puzzling you in interpretations. This could be an ongoing technique where you decide to give the Emperor, or the Chariot, or the Star, for instance, a day of observation. That is best done as part of your ongoing Tarot practice once you know the cards well.

Tarot Triumphs: Standing upright, holding a lighted lantern, the Hermit is both imposing and humble. He wears a rough, hooded cloak and is bearded, with long locks. In his other hand, he holds a wooden staff. These are the symbols of his role. He does not have the ceremonial regalia of bishops or kings, but he has his own authority and wisdom, derived from the life of poverty and contemplation. Some in the crowd would like to bring their questions to him, to benefit from his insight. They know that hermits, though solitary, can be consulted. He is also a reminder of the need for charity that should be given not only to the poor but also to those who pray for the welfare of humankind.
