Family, Friends & Relationships:
The reversed Six reminds us that we must stay focused on the present and the future instead of getting or staying ‘lost in the good old days.’ Live for today.

The Six of Cups is often a card about nostalgia; looking back on how things ‘used’ to be. It can be (but is not always) connected with children or childhood.

Here are some snippets from a few of my favorite books
Elements of the Psychic World: On the night of 30 August 1977, Janet Harper, aged 11, and her brother Pete, aged 10, went to their bedroom. According to reports later compiled their beds began to jolt up and down. When the children ran to get their mother, Peggy Harper, the movements stopped. The following night the children called their mother to their room again, claiming to hear shuffling sounds like a chair or table moving. Peggy took the chair downstairs and turned out the light. As soon as she did she herself heard the sound of shuffling. On turning on the light the children were both in bed with their hands under the covers. All three of them then heard loud knocks on the wall and witnessed a chest of drawers moving towards the centre of the room. Terrified, the entire Harper family went to their next-door neighbours.

Creative Tarot: A three-card draw is a good place to start because it has a very obvious beginning, middle, and end. So take what you know of the cards and tell yourself a story about them. Say you draw the Knight of Cups, Three of Swords, and Six of Cups. We go from a romantic but not very serious figure, to the card of heartache and betrayal, but we have a bit of a happy ending with pleasure and friendship. Here the story is obvious, but its up to you to figure out how it relates to your own situation. The Knight of Cups is more interested in the chase than in a real relationship: Was that the person who broke your heart, or was that you? Were you really committed to this person? With the Three of Swords, it can sometimes mean a really old hurt, stemming from something in your childhood. Are you really upset that the relationship is over, or did it just bring up abandonment issues? And how do you reintroduce the pleasure of the future into your life? Dating, or do you just want to spend more time with friends right now?
Tarot Triumphs: If this happens three times (which is rare), the reading is canceled for the moment. It could be helpful for the reader and the querent to discuss why they think this has happened. If neither of them knows, one way to end the session on a positive note is to say that perhaps there are imminent changes about to take place, and it’s better to wait awhile and see what happens first. I suggest that a minimum of three days should pass before another attempt is made. The reader should in no way bind the querent to try again. Tarot readings aren’t for everyone.
