Here are some snippets from a few of my favorite books
Tarot Triumphs: The diamond shape of the Fool’s Mirror spread reflects the way in which ‘above and below’ can manifest in terms of human experience. It is not so much a question of what is higher and what is lower here, in the cosmic sense, but more the mirroring of exterior and interior experiences, and showing how they relate to each other. Although the cards in each half of the diamond do not replicate each other, they nevertheless relate to each other. Sometimes, for instance, they reflect each other like subtle variations of the same thing. On other occasions, though, you may be faced with a marked contrast between the two halves, which could represent a very sharp division between what someone is doing (outer triad above) and what he or she is feeling (inner triad below). The image of the mirror here works more as a metaphor, since it can indicate juxtaposition rather than literal reflection, like seeing the contrast of light and shadow or the interaction of two complementary colors. The central line is the meeting point of external and internal forces, representing this continuous interplay between them.

Elements of the Psychic World: In modern Hermetic magical tradition, the magical personality is an artificial personality created for use in magical practice to prevent the inflation of the ego that can occur in magical training. The practition- er’s ordinary personality is thought to be insufficiently stable to handle the stresses of sustained magical training. The apprentice magician or witch therefore creates an alternate personality based on concepts such as courage, love, wisdom and power, and practises moving into and out of this personality at will, often using as a cue some action such as putting or taking off a bracelet.
Elements of the Psychic World: According to Hindu philosophy a guru (from the Sanskritt gu meaning darkness’ and ru meaning light’) is a spiritual teacher who helps dispels darkness and bring pupils to the light. The guru leads and inspires by example, in order to help followers reach enlightenment or self-knowledge. In the West the term is used to describe many kinds of spiritual teachers or leaders.
