Elements of the Psychic World: The family business went to William Lemp Jr, who was not as well versed in the brewing trade as his father or brother had been. He and his wife, Lillian, lived a glamorous lifestyle, spending freely on clothes, entertainment, furnishings and art. Three vaults were built in the mansion to house their vast collection. Lillian, who delighted in wearing lilac-coloured dresses and coats, was known as The Lavender Lady.

Reversed Cards: There is no doubt that expansion is at hand in this card. No matter what way you look at it, there is a want, need, desire for more than what you currently have. But how is that driving you, pushing you, and dictating your actions? Like it or not, some people will be ruthless to get what they want. They dont care who they hurt in the process or what sort of shady antics they have to pull off just as long as the end result is what they want. If this card has shown up in your daily draw or weekly spread, take a moment to think about the consequences of your current actions both big and small. Especially the small, as it is often the small, little, barely noticeable things that we do, say, feel, or think that give off the biggest and widest ripple effects.
Tarot Triumphs: We do not know how many steps there were along the way, and whether the troubadours a couple of centuries earlier had a hand in introducing Tarot images, or something similar, to southern France and surrounding countries. Certainly, it’s often conjectured that the troubadours’ lyrical output was founded in mystical inspiration, imbued with a theme of love and longing, and that their particular brand of mysticism was inspired by Sufism or Jewish Kabbalah.

Creative Tarot: From Italy, the tarot traveled to France, where the Marseilles deck was developed. This is the template from which most modern decks are derived. The Major Arcana stabilized at this point, settling into the set of twenty-two trumps we use now. Before this, some decks had a Western Emperor and an Eastern Emperor instead of an Empress and an Emperor. But the Marseilles became the template, and the wild variations in the decks faded away and the standard structure emerged.
