Here are some snippets from a few of my favorite books
Elements of the Psychic World: Croiset was raised in foster homes and orphanages and began to experience clairvoyance at the age of six. He dropped out of school at 13 and drifted into unskilled work. The turning point in his life came in 1935 when he was introduced to a group of local spiritualists, and over the next few years his reputation as a psychic and healer grew. In 1945 Croiset volunteered to be a test subject for the parapsychologist Willem Tenhaef from the University of Utrecht. Tenhaef was so impressed by Croisets ability that he began to mentor him, and introduced him to police work. In the years that followed Croiset became famous for his help in solving crimes all over the world. His passion was finding missing children.

Reversed Cards: There is something to be said about not letting the grass grow under your feet. Here in the protection aspect, everything about Temperance is so uncertain. Addictions might be running high, and the need to find some sort of escape from your current situation might be bearing down on you. Believe it or not, this is a test from Temperance herself. For it is in the unstable, uncertain circumstances of our life that we get to find the middle path. The path to healing. Only when our issues get so unbearable do we begin to look for assistance. The best part is that this gap or groundless space is very much protected. Think of it this way: only when you fall down can someone offer you a hand to get up. Only then does the need arise. It is the need for help and assistance that is protected and offers you some shelter and respite. So take heart if you find this card in the protection aspect in your reading or daily draw, for a safe space has been created for you to seek answers, guidance, and help.
Tarot Triumphs: By this time I had some experience in Tarot, and I didn’t want to be considered a complete novice. I felt some resistance as he began to relate his theory of how one phase of the cards led on to another. The twenty-two could be divided into three sequences of seven cards, with the Fool numbered zero as a wild card, free of such constraints. Again, his version has become overlaid with others in my mind; many years have passed, and I recall the quality rather than the detail of what he said. What he did teach me, though, was that there are ways of finding inherent structure within the sequence of Triumphs. And I also discovered that I could learn from someone even if I didn’t like or trust them. Being pushed out of one’s comfort zone is often the first real step to learning; America did that for me in general, so that I was open to encountering Tarot, and now my own will and judgment were definitely in uncomfortable friction with an imperious, and perhaps dangerous, man. But his message got through, and he became my second Tarot master. We did not meet again.

Tarot Card Meanings: In most Tarot decks the cards have a clear ‘upright’ and ‘reversed’ position. The meanings in this book follow the traditional interpretation of these positions. Generally the reversed position indicates the same forces at work but in a negative (or opposite) way. Modern playing card decks feature designs that do not clearly appear reversed or upright and if you choose to use playing cards as your main deck it’s advisable to make a small mark to denote the upright/reversed orientation.
