Portable Magic
Book Details
Portable Magic: The realizers are placed beneath the significator on the triangle in a stack of cards so that they express in sequence from the top to the bottom of the stack, first the person who is the focus of the ritual, and then the various parts of its fulfilment. The first card on top of the realizer stack occupies the present moment, and successive cards beneath it express actions realized in the future. The final card on the bottom of the stack is the final outcome sought by the ritual.

Portable Magic: The same principles that apply to the use of realizer cards in general also apply to charms. The significator, if one is used, should be on top of the pile that is placed on the triangle. The number cards of the charm, when more than a single realizer is used, are ordered from top to bottom in the sequence of desired events that express the successful working of the charm. The cards are placed on the triangle one by one, in reverse order to their working. That is to say, the realizer card that is the last stage in the working of the charm is placed first on the triangle, because it goes on the bottom, and the cards are stacked from bottom to top. When a significator is used, it is always the final card to be placed on the triangle.

Tarot Triumphs: This is not mediumship, as it requires remaining conscious of ourselves and the world around us. It is more akin to a form of contemplation. Also, in the Fool’s Mirror approach it is imperative that the Tarot reader take full responsibility for his or her words and never approach the reading as a kind of mediumistic activity, seeing it as a vehicle to encourage another voice or spirit to speak. What we are trying to do is align ourselves with a greater source of knowledge, which comes from allowing our own consciousness to open up while putting words and preformed ideas to one side. But then, our task is to put our own words upon what we perceive.

Tarot Triumphs: When you reach this point, make sure that you are well rooted in your own physical position; it can be helpful to bring back the attention to the body and sense it as a whole for a few moments. Then turn your attention back to the Tarot Triumphs and allow your gaze to encompass the whole layout. Imagine that you are the Fool, in the very best sense of divine openness, and that the Tarot symbols are reflected in your mirror that you hold to witness the sacred workings of creation. Let the gaze rest there, keeping it wide, wider than the actual physical dimensions of the layout, and retain this sense of expansiveness lightly, so that it does not narrow down again.
