Romance, Love Or Relationships:

The reversed Knight of Cups is still a positive card to get when you are asking about love. It can mean that if you are single, you may soon meet someone who might ‘sweep you off your feet.’ You may need some time to adjust to changes, if so.. give yourself the time you need. If you are in a relationship, The Knight can indicate that one or both partners may be feeling emotionally overwhelmed by the demands of the relationship. This can be worked out if both parties want to do so. Explore, and share, your feelings. Pay attention to the signals your partner is giving out, however. If he/she seems overwhelmed, this is not the time.

This card represents the watery quality of air, and as such brings a very important life principle to our experiences when it rules the day. It teaches us about how to shape our desires into realities, and offers a powerful supportive energy to assist us. As we’ve said so often, the things that we wish hardest for, invest most energy into, manifest in our lives. This is why it is so crucial to be vigilant and watchful about the way we’re thinking and feeling. If we sink into negativity, and empower that feeling with strong emotions like loneliness, grief or suffering we inadvertently introduce even more negativity into our lives. Likewise, when we want something strongly enough, and charge that desire with our longing, our hope, our positive energy we will find that thing manifesting for us. This card teaches us how to do this…how to explore our dreams, our desires, our wishes and to propel them into everyday life.

The things we work with can be material, emotional or spiritual – the Knight of Cups works with desire on all levels. All we have to do is wish hard enough. And his energy will help us to achieve our aims. So on a day ruled by him, select one thing that you really really want, and spend a little time visualising it, imagining what it would feel like to have it, or experience it, and then gather all your strong feelings up into a bundle and push them out into the Universe…… Stay alert, over the four weeks which follow, for signs that you are moving closer to your goal, or have already achieved it. Some things will take longer than others…but as long as you keep your hopes high for that particular wish, it will eventually wing its way back to you.

Psychic Abilities : Even if you are nervous about it, the worst thing you can do is hide your new gifts forever. What you have discovered is too good not to share. What you need to do is figure out who you want to share it with. Sometimes loved ones are not going to be receptive to what you are going to be sharing, so if you don’t think they will be happy for you, consider finding somebody else to talk to. Maybe it is a coworker that you have talked to before about psychic abilities or the psychic world in general. What you need is somebody you can talk to about all of the exciting stuff you are learning.

Reversed Cards: The Knight of Cups is ruled by the moon, which does not retrograde like the other planets. Instead, here in the retrograde aspect of the Knight of Cups, we have phases: dark moon phases and full moon phases. When the moon is dark, you are pulled into the inner landscape of your emotions. The full moon shows you how these emotions are showing up and dictating the terms of our outer experience. So which phase are you in, the dark or the light? Are you being called to examine or to observe? Only you will know which direction your knight is headed.

Portable Magic: You can sit anywhere, facing any direction, and lay the cards out on any surface, but for ease of orientation it is best to sit facing east and to lay the cards out in front of yourself on a table. In the illustrations of the altar and the circle shown in this book, the perspective is from the south looking north. This was done because this is the usual way maps are presented, with the east on the right side. When you work a ritual, the zodiacal trump of the Emperor will always be in the east, but you can sit on any side of the circle you choose. The location of the triangle, whether east, south, west, or north, will depend on the nature of the ritual purpose, whether it is airy, fiery, watery, or earthy.
