Family, Friends & Relationships:

In general, the Four of Disks can point to anxiety/fear about money and/or a clinging to whatever it is that makes the querent feel secure. The key here is to try to realize that being anxious and grasping does NOT bring security. If any card in the deck relates to the old saying about ‘If you love something set it free’ this is the one.

Card Meanings: Boundaries, Control, Saving For Big Purchases Or Retirement, Possessiveness, Miserly, Penny-Pinching, Holding On To People/Possessions/ Issues, Hoarding, Isolation, Stinginess, Financial Security, Greed, Keeping To Yourself, Deep Seated/Past Issues, Ungenerous, Financial Stability, Wealth, Materialism

The Four of Disks can be a card about holding on to things, people, money, or situations longer than is healthy or realistic. When this card appears in a reading, it’s a sure sign that you must look carefully at what you are clinging to, and whether others are clinging to you in an unhealthy way. Relax.

Psychic Abilities : No matter what you are doing, starting with your loved ones is the safest way to go. Sharing your secrets with people who you trust and who love you is the easiest way to begin opening yourself up too. Now just because they are family doesn’t mean you have to open up to them. If you listen to your intuition, you will know exactly who to open up to first. These people you know without a doubt will accept you for who and what you are, they don’t ever have any issues with your faults. These people have never once judged you as you have walked through life together side by side.

Complete Book of Tarot: Waite (1911): The physical and emotional nature to which this card is attributed is dark, ardent, lithe, animated, impassioned, noble. The King uplifts a flowering wand, and wears, like his three correspondences in the remaining suits, what is called a cap of maintenance beneath his crown. He connects with the symbol of the lion, which is emblazoned on the back of his throne. Divinatory Meanings: Dark man, friendly, countryman, generally married, honest and conscientious. The card always signifies honesty, and may mean news concerning an unexpected heritage to fall in before very long; (R) good, but severe; austere, yet tolerant.

Portable Magic: By contrast, meaning for the number tarot cards of the Lesser Arcana does not derive from their pictures, but from their numbers in the context of their suits, since in traditional Tarot decks the number tarot cards carry no pictorial scenes at all, but only stylized designs

Tarot Triumphs: The corresponding card from one of the earliest known Tarot sets, the Visconti-Sforza, has a piquant series of sayings written in Latin. The first three translate as ‘I shall reign,’ ‘I am reigning,’ and ‘I have reigned.’ These are emblazoned on ribbons attached to figures on the wheel. In this particular depiction of the image, a fourth figure, an old man, is placed under the wheel, declaring piteously, ‘I have no reign.’ The Marseilles version just has three figures on the wheel, transmuted into comic figures that mock man’s attempt to outwit fortune by imagining themselves great: three monkeys are in rotation, the one who rises up is wearing donkey’s ears, and the one at the top sports a crown.
