Faith, Spirituality Or Psychic Progression:
Again, The reversed Ace can show that you are in a mindset that means it is easy to get overly invested in spiritual ideas which in the long run may prove to be of little value to you. Be cautious about forceful people who try to get you involved in new organizations – particularly ‘spiritual’ organizations which require you to pay to belong. This is a time when your spirituality can grow through your own efforts: you don’t need a big organization in order to learn and open yourself up more.

The Ace of Swords can indicate a new beginning of some sort in your life, possibly on several fronts. Sometimes this new beginning can be started by a separation of some kind – from a relationship, or from a job situation. Know that as anxiety-producing as such a new beginning can sometimes be, that underneath it all is good, beneficial energy that is getting you where you want to go.

Reversed Cards: Have you ever just wanted to tell someone how stupid they were? I mean, like, really let them have it because you just cant take it anymore? Or maybe you have been on the receiving end of someone else who is always trying to undermine you or make you feel mentally inadequate. Either way, you are walking in the shadow aspect of the Ace of Swords. The Ace of Swords has a bit of an air about it, no pun intended. It does feel somewhat self-righteous, sort of higher-than or more actualized than other mere mortals. The problem is this is ego-based thinking, and the ego loves the shadow lands of the mind. When this card shows up in a reading or daily draw, just remember that here in the shadow aspect there is a level of accountability that needs to be adhered to so that no harm comes to you or others.
Tarot Triumphs: As explained earlier, only the twenty-two Tarot Trumps of the Major Arcana are used in this book. Any references from now on to ‘the pack’ will refer to the Triumphs, unless specifically indicated otherwise. You may wish to extend your Tarot readings later to include the four suits, but even so, working first with the Trumps will give you a good basis for this. Like many other Tarot practitioners, I prefer to just use the twenty-two Trumps. As I have found, and the Fool’s Mirror layout proves in chapter seven, it is not essential to bring in the four suits at all. The Triumphs stand as a viable set in their own right; they have an independent existence and were not generated along with the four-suit playing-card pack. The suits are based more on numerical values and court cards; their interpretation tends to be more dependent on pre-formulated attributions, which can lead to a shallower kind of divination. I am not saying that the four suits cannot be interpreted with a genuine degree of significance, but it is hard to do this without a thorough study of the meaning of number and its possibilities for interpretation. Nearly all Tarot practitioners would, in any case, agree that the Tarot Trumps have more power and weight in a reading than the cards of the suits, even when those suits are also represented as images, as in the case of the Rider-Waite pack.

Reversed Cards: Have you ever been willing, able, and ready to go, only to find your plans have been delayed or canceled? What is always interesting about this sort of delay or need to reschedule is that it usually saves you from something that you could not see through your eagerness. Whether you like to admit it or not, the universe, father/mother/god, has your back. They love you and only want you to have a happy, joyful journey. So if you have received this card in the protection aspect, it is for a very good reason.
