Career, Work Or Retirement:
It is very easy to misunderstand people and entire situations at work when the Three of Swords appears in a work context. Your best bet is to ask questions and not make assumptions, and to be as clear as possible in your own communications. Don’t be too ‘think skinned’ when this card comes up. People may inadvertently be insulting, in many cases you should just try to let this roll off your back now.
Card Meanings: Overcoming Grief/ Sorrow/ Sadness, Repressing Emotions, Getting Over The Worst, Confusion, Reconciliation, Compromise, Suppressing Memories, Sorrow, Sharing Problems, Releasing Pain, Optimism, Overcoming Depression, Loss, Recovering From Heartbreak, Forgiveness, Inability To Let Go Of Pain
Regardless of the way that the Three of Swords card is depicted, know that it is not all bad. Creative Tarot: The game the cards were designed for, the tarocco, has been lost to time. You dont see people playing it anymore. But even as people lost interest in the game, the deck remained. As the tarot cards spread and were adapted by different cities and different cultures, new variations appeared. We still have many examples of these early decks, and many of the distinctive choices of imagery were developed in the fifteenth century and are still found in contemporary decks. The distinctive shape of the Hanged Mans legsforming a 4, with one straight leg and one bent kneecan be found in the fifteenth-century Visconti-Sforza deck. The pierced heart of the Three of Swords can also be found in the sixteenth-century Sola Busca deck, originating probably in Venice.
Tarot Triumphs: This image goes back far in history: Temperance’s action of pouring is similar to that of certain Assyrian deities, who were also shown in winged form, pouring out divine water into a receptacle. Although the Tarot card of Temperance is not likely to have a direct link with this mythology, it could link indirectly through the Renaissance emblematic use of Egyptian hieroglyphs, which followed on from Assyrian culture.43 The winged figure also seems to suggest grace and a benign presence from another realm. The angelic dimension of existence seems to be recognized by people from different times and cultures. Many people have experienced the presence of angels, among them even those who are skeptical about religion or the existence of higher worlds. For any of us, the experience can remain a touchstone, reminding us of another order of being and a love and benevolence that transcend petty concerns. Although our conditioning may put particular forms upon this experience, the angel as a figure will always have a place in human reckoning, and the Tarot card can represent being touched by something higher. Perhaps this is symbolized by the gleam of otherworldly beauty in the five- or six-petaled flower of the Angel’s headdress.

Reversed Cards: Regardless of the orientation of this card, the Seven of Wands is a call to action. Whether you see it as taking a lone stand against others or a leader preparing followers for action, there is an element of strategy and forward movement about this card. Unless, of course, its blocked, in which case you have a bit of a problem, because this card does mean action. When this card is blocked, you can bet the energy is going to show up as anger and resentment somewhere else down the track. Keep that in mind if you continue to resist the movement this card brings.
