Career, Work Or Retirement:
In the context of work The reversed King of Wands generally indicates helpful men, but it can also signify that one man in particular may tend to be condescending and patronizing toward you. Depending on the situation you may need to accept a certain amount of this, however if this man creates too much difficulty or becomes fully inappropriate toward you there may need to be a confrontation or action taken about it. You do not have to accept a hostile or fully inappropriate work situation. However, neither should you allow yourself to be too thin-skinned.

Often associated with the astrological sign of Sagittarius, The King of Wands signifies wise, open, positive, adventurous masculine energy. As with all court cards, The King can indicate a literal person in your life; most often a man with hair on the lighter end of the spectrum. When The King appears, you are likely to have an abundance of energy which you are inclined to use in a positive direction.

Here are some snippets from a few of my favorite books
Portable Magic: In ordinary Western ceremonial magic, the astral space is usually of the same dimension as the physical place in which the ritual is worked, and often has roughly the same appearance. For example, a ritual might be worked in a room on which a magic circle has been drawn on the floorboards with chalk. The chalk line is only the material model for the magic circle, which does not really come into being until it is created in the astral space by the imagination. The astral circle is visualized in the astral equivalent to the physical room as a glowing band of light that floats upon the air at heart level above the physical circle of chalk. Both are held in the mind, which dances from one to the other and in this way sustains them. The magician is aware of the chalk circle, and also of the glowing astral circle above it.

Reversed Cards: The pride of Leo rings loud and proud in the King of Wands, meaning that he can be extremely loyal and overly protective. If you have received this card in the retrograde aspect, then your loyalties are being questioned. The sun is illuminating all those you serve, all those you protect, and all those who love and support you. These relationships are asking to be evaluated and new boundaries are asking to be set. Let the energy of Leo and the healing power of the sun guide you at this time as you reassess who is your best ally and who is weighing you down.
Tarot Triumphs: The usual Tarot representation of Strength is that of a woman bending over a lion and calmly but firmly opening its jaws. The French name for this card is La Force, which indeed means strength, but my Grimaud Marseilles pack keeps the translation as Force in its English version, which seems to be the very opposite of what this card is about. Strength here is definitely not about force in the English sense of the word. Here, gentleness triumphs over brute force, which also sets up one of those intriguing Tarot paradoxes: how can a woman tame such a savage creature without using force? Some earlier versions of Tarot show this card as a woman breaking a pillar in half or a man clubbing a lion, but these are crude allegories by comparison.

Reversed Cards: Sometimes it can be a good thing to be overwhelmed. Why? Because it immobilizes you. This means you literally cant get in your own way. And when you are unable to get in your own way, wonderful things can happen. Think about one time in your life when your head was so full and so busy you just didnt have room, energy, or time for fear, doubt, or worry. This is the Seven of Cups in the protection aspect. Sometimes it pays to just let things move on their own without any guidance or assistance from you. When this card shows up in the protective aspect, just relax. Everything is happening for your higher good.
