The Angel of Discernment teaches us to honour our inner voice and to listen to our hearts. If we are given complex choices which involve making difficult decisions affecting our spiritual evolution, this angel helps us to choose the right path. It is always guiding us towards what will serve our growth and help us develop our strengths and gifts. Discernment eliminates what is negative, ineffectual and maybe potentially damaging to us. Learning discernment is refining our skill at sensing what is the healthiest and most joyful path for us.

Discernment is the ability to know what is ultimately for our greatest good. It is not necessarily the easy or the popular path. It is, however, the path best suited for our good. We can know what is right for us when we listen to our hearts and reflect on our choices. The Angel of Discernment is there to help guide our way in making the wisest choices.

Discernment is that ability to know in your head and heart that something or someone is right for you. Many people struggle to try to make a situation or a person right rather than asking if that person or situation is the best for themselves. When we are discerning we value ourselves at every level, and make choices which reflect that level of self-worth. The Angel of Discernment helps us to see things clearly and to expand our vision beyond our fears and doubts about ourselves. It helps us know what we may be afraid to see and allows us the possibility of making intelligent and heart-felt choices.

We can pray to The Angel of Discernment to help us develop our ability to listen to our inner voice. This will help us hear the angels whispering to us, and know the right choices to make. When we have learned discernment then the angels help us open fully to the treasures of our inner knowing. They never risk exposing that deep inner knowing to rejection. Discernment protects our deepest sensitivities. The angels want us to make only the best decisions for ourselves.

Complete Book of Tarot: Critics might also object that the theory of archetypes is merely a fanciful speculation with little scientific support. Interestingly, recent studies at Emory University have demonstrated that memories of experiences shared by our ancestors may be transmitted through our DNA. For example, scientists were able to show that mice trained to fear a specific odor would pass these emotions down through generations, presumably enabling future mice to be better prepared to deal with a similar situation. As Dr. Brian Dias of Emory University has explained, ‘Our results allow us to appreciate how the experiences of a parent, before even conceiving offspring, markedly influence both structure and function in the nervous system of subsequent generations.’ 25

Angel Insights : Later, of course, like many people who are initially frightened by encountering a divine angel in physical form, seeing an angel became one of my most treasured memories. But at the moment my angel sighting was happening, having a being from another dimension with feather wings suddenly appear before me unannounced was incredibly unnerving. For most people, seeing an angel is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. But there are exceptions. There are people, such as Irish author and activist Lorna Byrne, who see angels often. Some people are good at math, and some people are good at seeing angels! And although I hear angels often, I don’t normally see them. No matter what society, or any individual, would have you believe, in spiritual truth none of us is more worthy or special than another. We each have unique talents and gifts. When I have asked the angel realm about Lorna Byrne, the word that comes to me is witness. She was singled out to bear unique witness to the angel realm by seeing angels often, and to share what she experiences with the world, just as each of us is given certain experiences and opportunities to share something unique and important with the worldwhether that is directly touching the lives of a few people or millions. (When I asked the angels about me, the word they gave me was messenger. I do believe I am destined to recieve messages from Spirit and share them with others.) Remember, even if you are not influencing on the scale that an author like Lorna is, everyone you touch, aid, heal, love, protect, or teach has an impact on many other lives. The angels are showing me an image of a single drop of water hitting a pond. There is a ripple effect to all your actions, just like the drop of water has a ripple effect, and just as its presence contributes to the size and makeup of the pond as a whole. Lorna is very precious, but so are you. And whether you see angels or not, they are always nearby, and the angels are asking me to tell you that they love each and every one of us ‘enormously.’
